xfp – Interface to the LaTeX3 floating point unit

This package is deprecated in favor of methods integrated into the LaTeX kernel from 2022-06-01.

This package provides a LaTeX2ε document-level interface to the LaTeX3 floating point unit (part of expl3).

The expandable command \fpeval takes as its argument a floating point expression and will produce a result using the normal rules of mathematics. As this command is expandable it can be used where TeX requires a number and for example within a low-level \edef operation to give a purely numerical result.

From 2022-06-01 release of LaTeX this will be included in the format so that the package doesn't need loading any longer.
