CTAN update: forest

Date: December 7, 2016 9:57:19 PM CET
Sašo Živanović submitted an update to the forest package. Version number: 2.1 License type: lppl1.3 Summary description: Drawing (linguistic) trees Announcement text:
This release focuses on performance issues. Whereever possible, using PGF's math library is avoided, and when processing speed is an issue, the substantially enhanced argument processor can now be used as a drop-in replacement for pgfmath. Other improvements include some new nodewalk stuff and conditionals, relative node names in handler `.option`, and several bugfixes; see the changelog for details. Note to users of Forest-based package Prooftrees. Due to a bugfix in Forest 2.1, Prooftrees 0.4 will not work properly with Forest 2.1. Either download the new version of Prooftrees (0.41) or load the Forest package (prior to loading Prooftrees) using `\usepackage[compat=2.0-delayn]{forest}`.
This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/graphics/pgf/contrib/forest More information is at http://www.ctan.org/pkg/forest

forest – Drawing (linguistic) trees

The package provides a PGF/TikZ-based mechanism for drawing linguistic (and other kinds of) trees. Its main features are:

  • a packing algorithm which can produce very compact trees;
  • a user-friendly interface consisting of the familiar bracket encoding of trees plus the key-value interface to option-setting;
  • many tree-formatting options, with control over option values of individual nodes and mechanisms for their manipulation;
  • the possibility to decorate the tree using the full power of PGF/TikZ; and
  • an externalization mechanism sensitive to code-changes.
