The NEWFILE package

    The newfile package provides convenient user level commands for reading
and writing new files during a LaTeX run. The package requires the standard
verbatim package.

    To install the package:
- run: latex newfile.ins (which will generate newfile.sty)
    To process the user manual
- run: latex newfile.dtx
- run: makeindex -s gind.ist newfile
- run: latex newfile.dtx
- Print newfile.dvi for a hardcopy of the package manual 
- Move newfile.sty to a location where LaTeX will find it.
  (typically in a local texmf tree at tex/latex/newfile) and refresh the

new­file – User level man­age­ment of in­put and out­put

Com­mands are de­fined to man­age the lim­ited pool of in­put and out­put han­dles pro­vided by . The streams so pro­vided are mapped to var­i­ous of the in­put and out­put mech­a­nisms. Some fa­cil­i­ties of the ver­ba­tim pack­age are also mapped.
