LaTeX Format 2026-11-01 is required for documents starting with a \DocumentMetadata{...} command. For these documents, babel-french no longer redefines any internal LaTeX commands or environments in order to preserve PDF tagging. The new templates are used instead to offer the same customisation as former versions. Documents without a \DocumentMetadata{...} command are not affected, no change should be noticable for them.
