Pkgmeta – Retrieve metadata from LaTeX packages and files without loading them

This package provides a small interface for retrieving metadata declared by a LaTeX package or file without loading the target file. It recognizes metadata declared by \ProvidesPackage, \ProvidesFile, \ProvidesExplPackage, and \ProvidesExplFile. The package provides access to package dates, version numbers, release date components, and descriptions. With LuaTeX, the target file is read as text; with XeTeX and pdfTeX, readprov is used as the backend.
