The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: bytefield Version number: 2.0 Author's name: Scott Pakin Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/bytefield/ Summary description: Draw network-protocol specifications and other bit-field representations License type: lppl Announcement text:
The bytefield package helps the user create illustrations for network protocol specifications and anything else that utilizes fields of data. These illustrations show how the bits and bytes are laid out in a packet or in memory. Version 2.0 improves the user interface, albeit in a non-backwards-compatible way. The package now uses a key=value interface to specify formatting parameters either globally or local to an individual diagram; rows are now grouped using a more LaTeX-like syntax; and there are more opportunities for customizing the appearance of a diagram.
This package is at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/bytefield/ . Information is at http://tug.ctan.org/pkg/bytefield (it may take a day for the information to appear).
