Date: September 13, 2026 6:35:58 AM CEST
Manuel Koller submitted an update to the jss-lint package. Version: 1.2.0 License: mit Summary description: Style checker for Journal of Statistical Software manuscripts Announcement text:
jss-lint 1.2.0 reports the measured recall on every run, lists which JSS style-guide provisions it does and does not check (`coverage`), adds a baseline mode for manuscripts that predate the tool, accepts Overleaf source zips in the browser version, and colours terminal output. It also fixes suppression directives in the Rust engine and bracketed LaTeX disappearing from terminal messages.
The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/jss-lint The package’s files themselves can be inspected at https://mirrors.ctan.org/support/jss-lint/

Jss-lint – Style checker for Journal of Statistical Software manuscripts

jss-lint checks manuscripts written for the Journal of Statistical Software (JSS) against the journal’s published style guide. It parses .tex, .Rnw (Sweave/knitr), and .Rmd sources together with their databases and applies 62 deterministic rules covering the JSS preamble macros, semantic markup (\proglang, \pkg, \code), natbib citation conventions, capitalization of titles, sections, and captions, code formatting, and bibliography completeness. Violations are reported with source positions and fix suggestions; the mechanical subset can be applied automatically, and a reviewer mode aggregates the findings into a per-category compliance summary. Per-rule precision and recall are measured against a corpus of 254 published JSS-format manuscripts.

The tool is compiled software distributed through the usual package ecosystems (a command-line binary, Python and R packages, a VS Code extension, and a browser version running fully client-side); this CTAN entry documents it and points to the released artifacts. jss-lint is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Journal of Statistical Software.
