texindex – Simple indexing using standard Unix commands
Starting from LaTeX \index commands, and makeidx.sty from the LaTeX distribution, this set of simple scripts (using sed, sort, awk and uniq) generates an index file to be used in a \printindex command.
This utility is not to be confused with the compiled program of the same name, which is part of the texinfo distribution.
