New on CTAN: arara
arara is a TeX automation tool based on rules and directives. It is, in some aspects, similar to other well-known tools like Latexmk and rubber. The key difference might be the fact that arara aims at exploiting metadata in the source code, that is, explicit instructions in the source code in order to determine what to do instead of relying on other resources, such as log file analysis.
This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/support/arara . More information is at http://www.ctan.org/pkg/arara (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). arara – Automation of LaTeX compilation
Arara is comparable with other well-known compilation tools like latexmk and rubber. The key difference is that arara determines its actions from metadata in the source code, rather than relying on indirect resources, such as log file analysis.
Arara requires a Java virtual machine.
