The re­pl­text pack­age's ex­poses to LaTeX a rel­a­tively ob­scure PDF fea­ture: re­place­ment text. When re­place­ment text is spec­i­fied for a piece of text, it is the re­place­ment text, not the type­set text that is copied and pasted.
