On Wed, 7 Jul 2010 Wybo Dekker submitted the new ltxfileinfo package to CTAN. Summary description: print version info for latex class or style file License type: gpl Announcement text:
ltxfileinfo prints information about a latex class or style file to standard output. With the -d option, only the file date, relevant for \RequirePackage, is printed. Without options, more information is printed.
This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/support/ltxfileinfo . More information is at http://tug.ctan.org/info/?id=ltxfileinfo (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . Please join a users group; see http://www.tug.org/usergroups.html . Thanks for the upload. For the CTAN Team Rainer Schöpf

ltxfileinfo – Print version information for a file

ltxfileinfo displays version information for files. If no path information is given, the file is searched using kpsewhich. As an extra, for developers, the script will (use the --star or --color options) check the valididity of the \Provides... statements in the files. The script uses code from Uwe Lück's readprov.sty.
