New on CTAN: fddiagram
The package fddiagram is now available on CTAN. The package typesets Functional Dependency diagrams straight from a plain-text list of dependencies (left-hand side -> right-hand side); the attribute universe, its ordering, and the diagram layout for each dependency are all derived automatically. Fddiagram – Automatic Functional Dependency diagrams from a plain-text list
This package typesets Functional Dependency (FD) diagrams,
as commonly used when teaching or checking relational database
normalisation, directly from a plain-text list of dependencies
in the form left-hand side → right-hand side
.
The attribute universe, its ordering, and the layout of each
dependency’s diagram are derived automatically:
no manual coordinates or column ordering are required.
Options, settable either when the package is loaded or
per diagram, control spacing, colours, arrow style,
label alignment, and optional dotted or dashed guide lines
connecting each mark back to its attribute.
The package requires TikZ,
xparse and
l3keys2e,
all part of any current TeX distribution.
