Javier A. Múgica submitted the cprotect-other package. Version: 2026-10-06 License: pd Summary description: An alternative \cprotect that avoids the .cpt files Announcement text:
This package provides an alternative to cprotect. It defines the macro \cprotect, to be used in the same way as the one from the homonymous package. The one from this package avoids the .cpt auxiliary files that pollute the working directory, and it is not specific to LaTeX; it only needs eTeX. It is also much faster than \cprotect, though you typically don’t place many \cprotect in a project. If you have some weird catcode settings the macro may fail. However, the relevant definition is so simple that in a case like this you can just copy-paste the macro from the package and modify it for your unusual setting; it is obvious how to do it.
The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/cprotect-other The package’s files themselves can be inspected at https://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/generic/cprotect-other/
