David Purton submitted an update to the
biblatex-sbl
package.
Version: 2.0 2026-04-29
License: lppl1.3
Summary description: Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) style files for BibLaTeX
Announcement text:
After many years of slow development, biblatex-sbl v2.0 is finally released! Highlights include: - Full support for every example in the SBL Handbook of Style 2nd ed., SBLHS Student Supplement and SBLHS blog. - Documentation showing how to set up and cite bib entries for every supported example. - Advanced handling of first and subsequent citations in running text and footnotes. - Support for a variety of types of reprints. - Comprehensive support for abbreviations, including citing reference works, ancient works and general abbreviations. - Support for citing ancient works by both source division and text collection page, including indicating the translator if needed. - German translation strings Important Note: v2.0 breaks compatibility with the v0.x releases in a number of ways. This is both because SBL style has become a rolling style that is continually updated at the blog and lack of development time to maintain many levels of backwards compatibility.
The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/biblatex-sbl The package’s files themselves can be inspected at https://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/biblatex-contrib/biblatex-sbl/
