Update to etex.sty so that \extrafloats gives a more informative error message (rather than an internal \ifnum parse error) Thanks to Hironobu Yamashita for raising the issue of the bad error message. Note that in almost all cases etex.sty should not be used with current LaTeX.

etex-pkg – E-TeX support package
The package provides support for LaTeX documents to use many of the extensions offered by e-TeX; in particular, it modifies LaTeX’s register allocation macros to make use of the extended register range.
The etextools package provides macros that make more sophisticated use of e-TeX’s facilities.
