the daemon continues on his saturday-night romp: > The following information was provided by the package's contributor. > > Name of contribution: mylatexformat (v3.4) > Author's name: Florent CHERVET > Location on CTAN: macros/latex/contrib/mylatexformat > Summary description: Make a format from the preamble of any LaTeX file > License type: lppl > > Announcement text given by the package's contributor: > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > Reorganisation of the code and optimization > > you should update, really ! ;-) what, me? (i'm only working on one latex document, atm -- the faq -- which we call "latex" as a courtesy, so that it doesn't get tetchy.) anyway, thanks for the upload; i've installed the new version and updated the catalogue repository. > Users may view the package catalogue entry at > http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/mylatexformat.html > or they may browse the package directory at > http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/mylatexformat the delayed announcement means that the catalogue entry is probably up-to-date, by now. mylatexformat – Build a format based on the preamble of a file

The use of formats helps to speed up compilations: packages which have been dumped in the format are loaded at very high speed. This is useful when a document loads many packages (including large packages such as pgf-TikZ).

The package was developed from the work in mylatex, and eliminates many of the limitations and problems of that package.
