\multirow now has a first optional parameter [⟨vpos⟩]. The ⟨width⟩ parameter can be specified as = to use the defined width of the column in which the \multirow appears. Support for longtable and supertabular. Better positioning in some cases. Lots of documentation. The distribution is now based on a .dtx file. Backwards compatible with v1.6.

multirow – Create tabular cells spanning multiple rows
The package has a lot of flexibility, including an option for specifying an entry at the “natural” width of its text.
The package is distributed with the bigdelim and bigstrut packages, which can be used to advantage with \multirow cells.
