Date: April 23, 2007 9:07:20 PM CEST
A new package has been installed at tug.ctan.org and should soon make its way to your favorite mirror. Thanks again for the package, Jim Hefferon Saint Michael's College ......................................................................... The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: xnewcommand Author's name: Josselin Noirel Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/xnewcommand Summary description: Allow to define \protected or \global macros by means of \newcommand License type: lppl Announcement text:
For most purposes, the features of \newcommand suffice. Nonetheless, \newcommand lacks some interesting features like the ability to make definition global or to use the \protected prefix supplied by e-TEX. This--surprisingly small--package makes possible to pass an optional argument \newcommand so that is becomes possible to use the \global and \protected prefixes.
This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/xnewcommand . More information is at http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=xnewcommand (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear).
